Audi Q7 (2015) finally revealed – lost 325 pounds!

When we wrote a few months ago about the preparation of the second generation Audi Q7, we published some surprising information that the weight of this luxury SUV model will be reduced by as much as 300 kilograms. We were right. The new Audi Q7 “lost weight” by as much as 325 kilograms.

The weight of the car powered by a 3.0 TDI engine is 1995 kilograms, which is the lowest weight in the class. The weight of the Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI has been reduced to 1970 kilograms. Interestingly, the consumption of gasoline-powered models was reduced by 28%, and diesel versions by 23%. Learn more about Golf 5.

The 3.0 TDI engine develops a maximum power of 200 kW, while a petrol engine of the same displacement develops 245 kW. Acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h on diesel takes 6.3 seconds, while the turbo-petrol version takes 6.1 seconds. The average consumption of a six-cylinder turbodiesel is 5.7 l / 100 km, and it produces 149 grams of CO2 per kilometer driven.

The car’s platform is very light and has been developed “from scratch”. A particularly attractive offer will be the Audi Q7 e-tron quattro, which will be Audi’s first plug-in hybrid combined with a turbodiesel engine. The result is a maximum engine power of 275 kW and a maximum torque of as much as 700 Nm. The factory states an average consumption of 1.7 l / 100 km (you haven’t read it wrong!), And with one battery charge, the electric car can cover 56 kilometers. For the Asian and American markets, a 2.0 TFSI engine with a maximum power of 185 kW and a maximum torque of 370 Nm is planned.

The new Audi Q7 is 37 mm shorter than its predecessor, which means it now measures 5.05 meters in length, 1.97 meters in width and 1.74 meters in height. Wheelbase is 2.99 m. Audi points out that the new Q7 has the quietest interior in its segment.

The world premiere of the new generation Audi Q7 will be held at the January Detroit Motor Show.
